Lockwood Technology has been providing physical inventory services, primarily regarding fixed assets, to industry and government since 1991. As you will see from our customer reference section of our web page, Lockwood has many large and diverse clients for whom we have successfully executed many complex physical inventories. Counting fixed assets normally include asset types such as furniture, computers, vehicles, artwork, audio/video, maintenance items, tools, appliances, office equipment and communications gear. Fixed asset inventories are normally conducted within office environments and computing centers. These types of counts are highly complex, involve many data conventions, and are conducted in environments that are fluid and active. During 2002, Lockwood made a strategic decision to begin to formally offer our inventory services to the retail sector. This page is intended to provide details of what we have to offer to the retail sector and how we approach our retail inventory engagements.
Technology
Lockwood Technology is not just a service provider. We are also a technology-based company, offering software solutions developed by our own in-house engineering staff as well as hardware solutions from our partners. Lockwood Technology is a premier solutions partner for such notable hardware manufacturers as Palm, Symbol Technologies and IBM. Lockwood Technology enhances these vendors products by customizing inventory software to run using their varying products. We rely heavily on the use of technology within our inventory service delivery engagements. We utilize devices such as hand-held data collection units, bar code scanners and label printers and devices such as counting scales.
Lockwood Technology selects and custom scripts the data collection units used to conduct a physical inventory based upon each customers unique needs. This means that we use the appropriate equipment and adjust the software running on the equipment to align with the customers unique needs. The result that we provide in the end is a formatted file designed specifically for use within the customers existing information technology environment. Lockwood has produced inventory result files that feed into many diverse ERP systems in use today including SAP/R3, Oracle, Peoplesoft, Lawson, Meditech, McCormick & Dodge and ITI among others. Lockwood has the ability to label assets and locations on demand as an inventory count progresses, and can provide any type and size of bar code label, including labels that are able to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

Personnel
Lockwood Technology's physical inventory specialists are experienced professionals who wear uniforms, are identified via name badges and are bonded. A dedicated Lockwood Client Manager manages all service delivery engagements. Service delivery personnel are supervised and monitored onsite by Senior Inventory Controllers who are members of the Lockwood management staff. Inventory Controllers routinely audit the work of the inventory specialists by spot-checking the work as it is progressing, to insure quality results. Our service delivery employees will conduct physical inventory anywhere in the world, at any time of day or night, 365 days per year.
Quality
Lockwood Technology is completely focused on producing quality results. Rather than just making this statement, Lockwood commits to this formally. Lockwood guarantees quality results. In the event that Lockwoods results fall below predetermined error rates, Lockwood will fulfill the customer's criteria free of charge.
Planning & Delivery Lockwood Technology constructs a detailed plan for each and every inventory service engagement. The plan outlines what is to be done, names personnel, defines schedules and data collection conventions and highlights communications and contingency plans. The plan becomes the blueprint for executing the project. The plan is submitted for customer approval. Once the approval is gained, the service delivery personnel follow the plan to the letter.
Case Study
We have elected to showcase one of our more prominent inventory service engagements as it depicts the scope as well as the diversity. Lockwood Technology was recently selected to count warehouse stock for Columbia House. The inventory count included loose piece items as well as bulk stock in an active warehouse. The project entailed counting DVDs, CDs and VHS stock. All areas of the 430,000 square feet of warehouse were involved, including pick areas, auto-load areas, shipping & receiving, overflow, returns and storage. With Columbia House's total inventory exceeding one million items, Lockwood utilized 68 personnel to complete the count in 5 days. The count was completed on time, within budget and with better-than-expected variance levels.
